Wise Owl Hostels Shibuya is a coliving-friendly hostel in Aobadai, Meguro, about a 15-minute walk from Shibuya Crossing or an 8-minute walk to Shinsen Station on the Keio-Inokashira Line. Rooms range from capsule-style bunk dorms to private rooms sleeping two or four. The mixed dormitory fits 28 people in a series of capsule-style bunks, each with a blackout curtain, USB charging port, reading light, and lockable storage under the bed. Private rooms are genuinely small. Bring a backpack, not a large suitcase. The building runs to five floors and has no elevator.

Free WiFi covers all floors. There is no dedicated coworking space, but a shared kitchen pantry on the 5th floor, a PC in the common area, and a reception desk open 24 hours a day make it functional for remote work stays. Most guests work from their rooms or head to nearby cafes in Aobadai and Nakameguro.

The ground floor hosts OWL's Kitchen, an organic restaurant and bar serving burgers and occasional happy-hour drinks. Historically the social hub of the hostel, the bar appears to operate on reduced hours compared to earlier years. The kitchen caters to a general menu. Dietary options not confirmed in any reviews or on the website, so guests with specific requirements should plan to eat elsewhere. A Lawson convenience store sits 100 meters away.

Staff quality is the most consistently praised aspect across eight years of reviews. Guests describe the team as proactive, warm, and genuinely helpful in unexpected situations. Recent reviews from late 2024 and early 2025 flag some maintenance concerns.Broken showers on certain floors and inadequate heating in winter months. These are worth checking at check-in.
