サクラハウス新宿
Sakura House is one of Tokyo's longest-running foreigner-only sharehouse operators, founded in 1992 and managing over 90 locations across Tokyo and Kyoto. The main check-in counter and resident lounge are in Nishi-Shinjuku, a few minutes' walk from Shinjuku Station west exit. Individual share house properties are spread across Tokyo, with a concentration in the Shinjuku area.
Private rooms from ¥75,000/month include all utilities (electricity, water, gas, Wi-Fi), a furnished room with bed, desk, air conditioning, and bedding. No deposit, no key money, no guarantor. Credit cards, Alipay, WeChat Pay, and PayPal are accepted. The minimum stay is one month with no maximum. Short stays of two to three weeks may be available on request.
The Sakura House Lounge in Nishi-Shinjuku is open 365 days a year, 8:50 AM to 6:00 PM. It offers free Wi-Fi, computer access, luggage storage, Tokyo tourist information, and free tea and coffee. All check-ins are handled here rather than at individual properties. Multilingual staff support residents in English, Korean, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. There is no food service and no specific dietary options at the Lounge.
Community events run throughout the year. Monthly welcome parties are held at the Shinjuku Lounge. Past events include cooking parties, tea ceremonies, karaoke nights, local festivals, and biannual group visits to Design Festa at Tokyo Big Sight. Events are opt-in and announced via Instagram and Facebook.
The Sakura House Lounge (check-in counter) is a 7-minute walk from Shinjuku Station West Exit. Exit through the west basement entrance (Nishi-guchi), walk past the UNIQLO store and through the covered shopping street, pass KFC, continue to the large intersection, then walk down Otakibashi-Dori. Look for the rectangular white Sakura House sign between an Excelsior Caffe and a FamilyMart. The lounge is on the 2nd floor of Nishi-Shinjuku K-1 Building.
From Narita Airport take the Narita Express (N'EX) directly to Shinjuku Station (approximately 80 minutes). From Haneda Airport, take the Limousine Bus to Shinjuku West Exit (approximately 40 minutes) or the Keikyu Line to Shinagawa then the Yamanote Line to Shinjuku (approximately 50 minutes total). All individual Sakura House properties are accessed independently after receiving keys at the Lounge.
Shinjuku is one of Tokyo's most connected hubs, served by JR Shinjuku Station (the world's busiest station) and Shinjuku-sanchome on the Marunouchi and Shinjuku lines. The area splits between the east side's nightlife and Golden Gai, and the west side's corporate towers and government offices. For nomads, it means fast transit anywhere in Tokyo, a dense selection of cafes, coworking spots, and 24-hour convenience, though rents and noise levels reflect the central location.
