A hidden-gem study room and cafein the Shindaiku-machi neighbourhood of central Nagasaki. Opened in 2024, しなぷす (Synapses) was a women-owned community space combining a proper cafe with paid study seats and a rentable meeting room. The concept was simple. Eat, drink, and focus quietly in the same place.
The space occupied the second floor of Takagi Building on Shindaikumachi, a quiet residential-commercial street about two minutes on foot from the Shindaikumachi tram stop. Reviewers described the atmosphere as genuinely quiet, suited to focused work or exam prep. A small library of reference books (medical certification, university entrance, business) was available for guests to browse.
Food was homemade by the owner and consistently praised across all three Google reviews. The menu covered coffee, tea, light meals, and desserts. Brunch meals ran ¥1,000–2,000 per person. Dietary options not confirmed. Cashless payment was accepted (credit card and PayPay).
Wi-Fi and power outlets were included with paid study seats. Walk-in use of the cafe seating was available without booking. The meeting room (up to 8 people) required reservation at least 3 days in advance via LINE, the website, or Instagram DM. Weekend openings were by reservation or event only.
