ホゲット
A renovated old farmhouse turned community hubin the rural Nishiumi area of Saikai City, about 35 minutes from Sasebo by car and 75 minutes from Nagasaki. HOGET (pronounced "hoget") takes its name from the nearby Hoget Stone Pot Manufacturing Site, a nationally designated historical site. The name captures the ethos of the place. "if you want something, make it." The building has been reimagined as a cafe, shop, DIY workshop, and rentable event space rolled into one.
The cafe serves coffee, seasonal lunches using local Saikai ingredients, and desserts. The atmosphere is cozy and quiet. Reviewers consistently describe it as relaxed and romantic, with an outdoor terrace popular in good weather. Popular menu items from reviews include smoothies, cake slices, quiche, and bagels. There is a children's menu and high chairs are available. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating area.
WiFi is available throughout the space. The venue is not marketed as a coworking space, but the private rental room (Hamabou) is well suited for focused work sessions. At ¥500 per hour it's one of the most affordable private room options in Nagasaki Prefecture. If you're a group of four or more who order food and drinks, the room is free for the first two hours during weekday cafe hours. The room fits up to 6 people and has a whiteboard, projector, and simple mic set. Dietary options not confirmed from reviews or the website. No non-dairy milk, vegan, or gluten-free options were mentioned.
Beyond the cafe, HOGET runs regular craft workshops (Saikai Craft Life series), a gift shop with Saikai-branded goods and outdoor gear, and a UV printing service for custom canvas prints. In the back of the building, a local nature experience company (Yama to Umi no Sato Saikai) has an office and can arrange tours and activities in the area. A good base if you want to explore the western Nagasaki coast without the tourist crowds.
