Shodenji Temple Stayis a short-term and long-term accommodation inside the grounds of Matsuryusan Shodenji, a Nichiren Buddhist temple founded in 1602 in Minato City, Tokyo. The residence building. A purpose-built two-storey structure completed in 2015. Sits beside the main hall of the temple, giving guests the atmosphere of a working religious site without sacrificing modern comfort.
Two self-contained apartmentsoccupy the ground floor (42 sqm, up to 6 guests) and first floor (45 sqm, up to 6 guests). Each has a full kitchen with utensils, a washing machine, air conditioning, and private bathroom. Rooms can be booked individually or combined for groups of up to 12. Entry is by keypad. No check-in desk, no front desk staff.
The location is excellent for transit. Hamamatsucho and Daimon stations are a 10-minute flat walk away, giving access to the JR Yamanote and Keihin-Tohoku lines, the Tokyo Monorail (20 minutes to Haneda Airport), and the Toei Asakusa Line (direct to Narita Airport). Five different train and subway lines are reachable on foot.
One recurring caveat from guests.Railway tracks run close to the building. The property discloses this upfront and provides earplugs. Light sleepers should factor this in. Those unbothered by ambient train sound consistently rate the space as spacious, clean, and genuinely memorable. There is no food service on site. Each apartment has a full kitchen. Dietary options are entirely up to the guest.
