A ceramics studio cafe in the Daimyo neighborhood of Tenjin, run by Yuu Kobo, a craft school with branches across Japan. The Fukuoka location opened in August 2012 and operated for nearly 14 years. The concept was simple and memorable. Before ordering, guests choose their own handmade pottery cup from a display of pieces fired in a wood kiln. Each cup is unique in glaze, shape, and texture.
The space had a retro interior with antique furniture, indirect lighting made by Yuu Kobo studio staff, and a green plant-covered exterior that gave it a forest-in-the-city feel. Reviewers described it as quiet and relaxing. The location in Daimyo put it a short walk from Tenjin's shopping streets, but the interior felt separate from all of that.
Espresso came from a DalaCORTE Italian machine. Staff drew original latte art for each order, customized to the cup shape. The caramel latte and gateau chocolat were the most frequently mentioned items across reviews. Pricing ran 1,000 to 2,000 yen per person, which some reviewers noted as on the high side. Most felt the cup-choosing ritual and latte art justified it. Dietary options not confirmed in reviews. The menu was primarily drinks and light food including hot sandwich lunch sets.
A gallery space ran along the walls where handmade ceramics, glassware, and silver accessories from Yuu Kobo classes were displayed and sold. Some of the cups used in the cafe were available to buy. Above the cafe, the building housed the ceramics classroom.

From Tenjin Station (Nishitetsu Omuta Line or Fukuoka City Subway Kuko Line), walk west into the Daimyo neighborhood. The cafe is on a side street off Kego Park, about 7 minutes on foot. The building has a green plant-covered exterior and a handmade ceramic sign at the entrance.
Daimyo is a compact, walkable district in central Fukuoka, tucked between the Tenjin shopping hub and the historic Ohori Park. It mixes low-rise residential streets with independent cafes, boutiques, and a handful of tech-forward office buildings. Tenjin Station (Fukuoka City Subway) is 3 to 5 minutes on foot from most of the area, giving easy access to the airport line and the Tenjin-Minami interchange.
The neighbourhood has a growing remote-work presence anchored by Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City and its GROWTH 1 startup support campus. Food options are plentiful within a short walk, from casual lunch spots on Meiji-dori to the covered Tenjin shopping arcades just north.
