The floor layout is specific. The ground floor holds a food studio (cafe-bar and event space open to the public). Basement level is a gallery and 24-hour shared atelier. The second floor is a group accommodation floor with a photography studio. The third floor is a sharehouse for young resident artists. The fourth and fifth floors are hostel and superior rooms open to all guests. KAGANHOTEL's resident community lives on the third floor in a sharehouse for young contemporary artists. The mix of short-stay guests and long-term resident artists is intentional. Founders designed KAGANHOTEL as a place where collectors, collaborators, and curious travelers encounter artists at work. KAGANHOTEL is at 99 Sujakuhozo-cho, Shimogyo Ward, west of Kyoto Central Wholesale Market. The nearest station is Toji Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, approximately 10 minutes on foot. From JR Kyoto Station, it is around a 20-minute walk or a short taxi ride (approximately ¥800-1,000). Bus routes 75 and 207 from Kyoto Station stop nearby at Toji-Higashimon-mae. For those arriving by Shinkansen, Kyoto Station is the gateway and the hotel is easily reached without highway connections.

About Shimogyo

Shimogyo is the ward directly surrounding JR Kyoto Station, making it the most transit-connected area in the city. From here the Shinkansen reaches Osaka in 15 minutes and Tokyo in around 2 hours 15 minutes. The neighborhood is dense with convenience stores, budget restaurants, and practical services — less traditionally scenic than Gion or Arashiyama, but highly functional for longer stays.
